Shawn is the founder of Carbon Credit Corp and the Carbon Smart™ brand. He formed CCC as an independent, for-profit entity that believes market–based approaches to environmental problems offer the best potential for success and sustainability. Previously a veteran of “business for development” activities, for the past 15 years he has been applying innovative information and communication technologies (ICT’s) to sustainable development challenges in over 25 emerging nations in Africa, Central America, and Asia.

Shawn’s MBA research project led him to Brazil and Central America where he investigated new economic realities for rural people by monetization of carbon credits.

Shawn is a sustainability and greenhouse gas expert who holds degrees from the University of Western Ontario; Queen’s University, Cornell University and is a recent inductee to the Certified Management Accountants Society (CMA Oct 2007).

Joerg Germann is the Senior Vice President of Technology & Development at CCC. Joerg leads CCC’s technology and product vision and is the force behind the conceptualization and development of CCAMS. Joerg’s passion is the design and development of carbon business management systems that help companies to manage GHG emission reductions from sequestration or energy efficiency activities. Joerg leads a cross-disciplinary team of software engineers and scientists that develop carbon business management products and services for agriculture, forestry and energy sectors.

Joerg is active in the development of his profession. He has recently joined BCTIA’s CTO Advisory Committee to provide expertise on the influence of climate change regulations on businesses and technologies.

Previously, Joerg enjoyed a successful career at MDA in a business development capacity and prior to that served as Executive VP of Versatile Mobile and COO of start-up evolutionB. In his professional career Joerg has been instrumental in many international projects ranging from launching and positioning telecommunication satellites into geostationary orbits, to developing and implementing flood monitoring systems in Bangladesh to managing software technology start-ups in Germany and Canada.

Joerg is a German-trained physics engineer, with a Diplom-Ingenieur in Applied Physics from Munich University for Applied Sciences and is a BC Registered Professional Engineer in Engineering Physics. Outside of work Joerg is an aspiring kite boarder.
